This mestri is as famous as the word ‘Cinema’, as responsible as a ‘Leader’ . He is a leader and famous too. There is a saying in telugu ‘aavu chenu lo meste, dooda gattuna mestunda!‘ , in Shankardada english style ‘ Cow grass eating in crops, why calf not eat ‘.
In a clear statement on September’2005, the Honourable Delhi Government issued notice to the Central Government on Smoking ban in films and in September’2008 the Honourable Supreme Court of India was very clear on Smoking Ban in public places.
When come to the above mestri, he is a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). I don’t think that, what a common man like me can be aware of above laws/notices, a M.P is not aware of. Look at the damn situation in our country. The Honourable courts are making laws and issuing notices to respected governments to ban smoking in public places and this M.P mestri says ‘So what?’ by promoting and encouraging smoking . Look at those gaint movie posters placed at all public places, where this M.P mestri is having a cigarette in smoke-full mouth.
We may not discuss this issue, if a layman does this. But, how a person like Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao, who is a M.P and known well for his aggressive speeches in movies and at public stages about social wellness does this. Can he achieve the social wellness by putting huge smoking poster at public places? I am not aware of what message he gave in this movie, but the message to public is clear by this posters. “Smoke where you want, when you want. Law is for courts and lawyers only”.
He may be a great personality in the country and have too much of power back-up, but he is not larger than country and greater than Law. Is it true that our laws are so weak ,that we can not do anything, who breaks law fearless. Anyone hearing?
